"BE TRUTHFUL, GENTLE, and FEARLESS." Gandhi

I believe the creative process is about being fearless. Artistic knowledge and technical skills are the foundation as they are in any creative medium, then, allowing oneself to go further opens the door to true creativity. How far can I go, I ask myself- I am passionate about making chic, sophisticated fashion embroidery. Fearless in striving to create unique elegance by going beyond what is seen in commercial embroidery. The ingredients are simple: complexity in stitch patterns and sophisticated color choices combined with artistic design.

My medium is fashion embroidery; I can only create if my mind is free, my imagination wild and I am willing not to settle for mediocrity. Nature's designs, colors and textures are my inspiration. Feathers are uniquely beautiful and my goal with the feather embroideries is to translate the delicacy into design by pushing the boundaries and possibilities of fashion embroidery. I feel driven to create sophisticated designs, which are going past punching out "clip art", it requires merging artistic and technical knowledge and exploring a "new path". A designer (digitizer) for commercial embroidery is mostly focused on a quick result, the easier the process the "better" and therefore most fashion embroidery is overall the same, it has mostly a "clip art" look and stitch patterns and colors are chosen from a limited pallet. I live in a different universe and enjoy trying out many color combinations and stitching patterns in order to achieve a certain look. For example, white is never "white", it comes in a myriad of shades that give it different warmth, coolness and shine. Composition, color choices and stitching patterns are of great importance to a good design.

Charles and his wife were a significant American couple who designed furniture and modern architecture. A quote that speaks to me; every time I develop a design, I work on it until I feel it's absolutely perfect. I run many trials on my machine after creating the design. I look for the exact color combinations, layering of threads and stitch patterns to achieve the qualities in the design that I set out for. I use this medium in a different and revolutionary, artistic way. I love color, I love art & design and I love denim!💙💙💙
